Alachua County deputies arrest woman after she threatened to cut off man’s penis
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Following hours of negotiations, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a woman who barricaded herself in a Northwest Gainesville home after she threatened to cut off a man’s penis.
Sheriff’s deputies have identified the suspect as Gabriela Mcleskey, 31. They say she was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m.
At 8:15 a.m., sheriff’s deputies received a call reporting a woman at an RTS bus stop on Southwest 20th Avenue holding a knife and threatening to cut off a man’s penis. She then got into a vehicle and left the scene.
The man told deputies he does not know Mcleskey or why she threatened him.
When deputies found her vehicle at a nearby Circle K and tried to perform a traffic stop, Mcleskey sped off. The five-minute chase ended at her home on Northwest 39th Drive.
She ran into the home and barricaded herself inside for several hours.
“It’s kind of surreal,” said Stephanie Rodriguez, a neighbor. “At first, I thought that maybe something happened like someone got killed or something so it was kind of scary because we live so close.”
Some residents nearby were unable to enter their homes due to law enforcement activity.
“I live like two houses down,” said Quinn McNairy, a neighbor. “I was leaving for class this morning at 9 o’clock and they had some cars here blocking off the road, but there wasn’t a SWAT team yet.”
Authorities say Mclesky was the only person inside the home when they removed her and no one was injured during the incident.
Mclesky was taken to the Alachua County Jail. She faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and fleeing law enforcement. According to court records, Mclesky was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for an unrelated domestic battery case.
