Celebration of life held for Newberry’s first black mayor Freddie Warmack

NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB) - A celebration of life and inducting ceremony was held for former Newberry mayor Freddie Warmack.

Warmack was posthumously inducted into the ranks of The 100 Black Men of Gainesville.

A painting of Warmack done by his grandson Alpatrick McClearly was also unveiled.

Warmack was first elected as mayor in 1984 and held the position for 10 years.

He died in 2019.
